BSCL to launch a smart common payment card
A smart common payment card (CPC) which will act as cash, as well as a card to pay for various services provided by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), is being launched. These services can vary from payment of holding tax, advertisement license, trade license fee, availing birth and death certificate, hiring Kalyan mandaps for social events, availing city bus services, paying parking fee, payment for getting building approval, penalties imposed by the various government agencies, filing tender papers and much more. The system would be able to handle around Rs 400 crore of government transactions. The project will be taken up by Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) under the smart city initiative. CPC will be issued to the citizens by the partner bank to be chosen by BSCL. Already discussion with representatives of 17 banks and leading mobile banking facilitators such as PayTm, ITZ cash, Ezee pay and Phone Pe has been initiated to implement the project.
