Impressive railway budget allocation for the State
The centre has allocated Rs 5,102 crore for Odisha railways under Union Budget-2017. Apart from projects announced earlier, the project details revealed that around Rs 700 crore has been allocated for the Khurda-Bolangir railway project. Moreover, Rs 186.37 crore has been assigned for Electric loco POH workshop at Kalahandi, Rs 49.16 crore has been allocated for freight train maintenance facility (RoH depo) at Maneswar under Sambalpur division.In addition to this budgetary provisions for a foot over bridge at Bhubaneswar Railway Station and bridges near Khetarajpur in Sambalpur and Bhadrak station has also been made. It is impressive the state’s allocation for the year 2017-18 is about 9 per cent more than the previous year’s allocation of Rs 4,682 crore. It is way higher than neighbouring states Andhra Pradesh’s Rs 3,406 crore and Chhattishgarh 3,676 crore of allocation.
