Centre of excellence coming up in Bhubaneswar to empower farmer community
The Odisha government plans to empower communities, mainly the farmer community, using community radios. A centre of excellence will be set up in Bhubaneswar to spread the knowledge & technology to farmers of the state through radio. This will be taken up jointly by agricultural empowerment department and the Community Radio Association of Odisha. A national workshop was jointly held by the Community Radio Association of Odisha and ICAR-CIFA jointly as a part of the world radio day celebration which commenced from 13th February with the radio on wheels launched at the CRPF campus. The workshop witnessed the launch of first episode “Let us connect Odisha” aimed at providing insight related to the Odisha’s agricultural practices. Papers on agricultural interventions were presented by the agricultural scientists from CIFA, CIWA ( central Institute of Women in Agriculture), & OUAT which can be popularized by the community radios. Principal scientist Dr Nagesh Barik informed that the radios will soon facilitate agricultural entrepreneurship through the Business Incubation centre of the CIFA.
