Twin city proposed to have milk banks
A proposal to open two milk banks in twin city Bhubaneswar and Cuttack has been presented before the state government by National Neonatology Forum of India (NNFI) and an NGO. Here the new mothers can donate milk which can be preserved up to one month. The milk will be tested before its preservation. This will benefit for new mothers who are unable to breastfeed. They can provide free mother’s milk to their newborns. The project is awaiting government’s approval. Currently, India has total 20 milk banks. Pune boasts to be the first Indian city to have a milk bank.
