Master plan to encourage tourism at Chilika
The Odisha government has considered a master plan for making Chilika Lake a world-class tourist destination. An agency has been assigned the task of preparing the master plan, which will present the final report within four weeks. Under this, the infrastructure of Chilika, country’s largest brackish water lagoon will be developed to attract more tourists. Care will be taken to ensure that local people, environment, and the boatmen dependant on the lake for livelihood are considered into the master plan. IPI Global Consultancy has prepared a report on the basic tourism development of Chilika. Chilika is famous for its migratory birds is home to a number of threatened species of plants and animals. In addition to this, the draft report was proposed for the development of three tourist zones Rambha, Mangalajodi and Satapada.
