Five mobile science labs launched for southern Odisha
Under the School and Community Science Programme (SCSP) five mobile science labs were launched by the Odisha government will visit five blocks of southern Odisha which include Muniguda, Bissamcuttack, Thuamul Rampur, Lanjigarh and Kothgarh. Around 25,000 students of 250 elementary and secondary schools can thus get hands-on training on Science and Maths in an engaging manner. These multi-purpose vehicles are fitted with equipment, application models and charts, audio-visual apparatus like TV, projector, audio amplifier, solar power back-ups. While the vehicles can be tracked through GPS trackers, the NGOs, teachers and community members have been aligned with the programme for broad based and effective results. According to chief secretary A P Padhi, "The initiative aimed at creating an environment of learning excellence in south Odisha through multi-stake holder engagement including community, school, teachers and students." The project is a joint effort of the state government, Tata Consultancy Sevices (TCS) Foundation and Tata Trusts.
