Odisha becomes the 12th state to cross one crore LED bulbs distribution
As a part of government of India's UJALA (Unnat Jeevan by Affordable LEDs and Appliances for all) scheme, the Odisha government in association with the central government’s Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) distributed one crore+ LED bulbs in the state. With this Odisha brags to be the 12th state crossing one crore distribution. This has resulted into power savings of over 129 crore kWh per annum. It is calculated to be a cumulative savings of Rs 519 crore per annum for 19 lakh consumers. Under UJALA each consumer can procure 9 watt LED at just Rs.70 each from EESL distribution kiosks. These bulbs have three years replacement guarantee of bulbs for all technical faults. Apart from bulbs, EESL in cooperation with Grid Corporation of Odisha Limited is also distributing energy efficient fans and LED tube lights.
