Malkangiri to have floating hospital
With a view to provide better healthcare facilities to over 20,000 villagers in 151 villages of Malkangiri, the administration has launched a mobile health unit. The boat dispensary service -- named Gurupriya after the river it will ply on, stationed at the Chitrakonda Dam ferry point will move to the all the villages inside the reservoir. Equipped with a permanent doctor, a pharmacist and other staff and all facilities available at general dispensary, the smart boats will tend to the patients. Medicines, special cabins to treat patients and a pathology unit to conduct various tests are also available on the mobile dispensaries. This project entailing an expenditure of around Rs 67 lakh will allow on-the-spot treatment of patients of the inaccessible region.
