Bhubaneswar’s Biju Patnaik Airport to have parallel taxi runway soon
As the Biju Patnaik International airport is determined to have true international status, it is going to upgrade its runway capacity to launch a number of flights simultaneously, the authorities are planning to construct parallel taxi runway. This is being considered as the required size of land for constructing two runways at the airport is not available. The land has been identified for the same and project work will commence soon. On completion of this project, the runway of Bhubaneswar airport runway will be expanded from 9,000 ft to 10,000 ft and will turn from 4C class to 4D class. This enhancement will attract more airlines to operate flights to Bhubaneswar. Currently, 29 flights are operating 58 times per day at the city airport. Post this project the count is sure to rise.
