JSPL commissions India’s largest blast furnace at Angul
India's fourth largest steelmaker, Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) commissioned India’s largest blast furnace at Angul. This took shape as the Angul steel plant, the largest integrated steel plant of Odisha was expanded from two million tonne per annum (MTPA) to six MTPA. The addition to the steel plant would generate direct employment to around 30,000 people and indirect jobs upto one lakh. JSPL Chairman Naveen Jindal shared that the setting up of the plant with new capacity involved an investment of about Rs 33,000 crore. He hopes to that this move will allow JSPL to overcome its loss due to the coal block cancellation and turn the company debt-free in the next five years.
