Odisha’s first mega food park at Rayagada
Odisha got it’s the first mega food park at Rayagada which was inaugurated by Union food processing minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal. It is being set up at on 50.05 acre land with an investment of Rs 80.17 crore. Under the mega food park scheme, the Centre is going to provide Rs 50 crore as subsidy. The food park includes facilities like fully operational industrial sheds for SMEs, developed industrial plots for lease to food processing units, rice processing complex of 12 tonnes per hour, dry warehouse of 10,000 tonne, cold store of 2,500 tonnes, multi-fruit processing facility and other food processing facilities. The modern infrastructure of MITS Mega Food Park will benefit the farmers, growers, processors and consumers of Rayagada and the adjoining districts of Nabarangpura, Ganjam and Khurda. The initiative will encourage investment in 25-30 food processing units in the park resulting in turnover of about Rs 450-500 crore annually. Thus the Mega Park will lead to direct and indirect employment generation for 5,000 people and benefit about 25,000 farmers.
