Odisha aims to be child labour free by 2025
Odisha aims to be child labour free by 2025. This was announced by Women and Child Welfare Minister Prafulla Samal in an event organised on the occasion of World Day against Child Labour. The state will take measures to be free from child labour in next 8years. A special task force to rescue the victims of child trafficking for bonded or forced labour will be formed. It will conduct raids and rescue child labourers. He also stated that Odisha is doing a better job in comparison to other states in terms of provision of free and compulsory education to children in the age group of 6 to 14. He said, “As per the latest survey, out of the 63 lakh children in the State only 41,000 are out of the purview of free and compulsory education scheme. Steps are being taken by the government to include all those children under the scheme.” To make this mission a reality the awareness among the citizens and their participation along with district and local administrations is necessary.
