State government approves 53 projects under AMRUT
Recently, Odisha government approved 53 urban projects with a total investment of Rs 538 crore under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT). The scheme is funded by Centre and state government at 50:50 ratio. It was launched in the 2015-16 fiscal at nine urban places namely Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Berhampur, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Balasore, Bhadrak and Baripada. The scheme is focused on improving drinking water distribution network, development of sewerage system, storm water management, up-gradation of city transport system and amusement parks development. The state level high power steering committee (SHSPC) led by chief secretary A P Padhi reviewed the status of earlier approved 95 projects under AMRUT and sent directive for completion of projects as per schedule.
