Odisha proposes for e-visa facility at city airport
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on behalf of the Odisha government has put forward a proposal in front of the Centre for introduction of e-Visa facility at the Biju Patnaik International Airport. The aim is to encourage tourism of Odisha. Mr. Patnaik wrote to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, "In order to facilitate the travel of arriving tourists, it is requested that e-Visa facility may be introduced for Bhubaneswar airport for the citizens of the eligible nations, which would encourage people from the countries connected by the recently launched international connectivity." Air Asia and state government has entered into an agreement for the provision of viability gap funding for the international carrier for its operations from Bhubaneswar. As Air Asia has commenced international flights between Bhubaneswar and Kuala Lumpur, thus the state is hopeful that e-visa facility will lead to a substantial increase of foreign visitors.
