Ground breaking ceremony of LNG Terminal held at Dhamra port
On 12th July, the ground breaking of the 5 MMTPA capacity LNG Terminal was held at Dhamra port in Bhadrak district of Odisha. The Bhumi Pujan was conducted by Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. LNG terminal project will involve a budget of Rs 6,000 crore, whereas a 2539 km long network of pipeline to transport gas would be laid which will entail an investment of Rs 13,000 crore. The proposed network would connect 13 districts of Odisha and other states, thus bringing natural gas to Bhadrak from countries like America, Canada and Qatar. The new gas distribution networks will allow provision of piped gas to households, motor vehicles and industries in various cities of Eastern India. This will not improve the access to cheaper and clean fuel, but also lead to creation of youth employment opportunities. The gas infrastructure project is set to boost economic growth of Odisha other part of east India.
