Odisha govt organizes workshops to streamline the use of social media
The Odisha government in association with Facebook organized a workshop here on Tuesday for the bureaucrats and senior officers to discuss strategies to streamline the use of social media and also to get direct public feedback. Nitin Saluja, public policy manager (South Asia), Facebook, conducted the information sharing session for the government officials. He shared some interesting tools and features of social media and some of the best practices to reach the public in an effective manner. Facebook, Twitter and Whatsapp have become an important medium for disseminating information as in case of tackling recent flash-flood situation in Rayagada, Kalahandi, Nabarangapur and Malkangiri districts and recently-concluded Asian Athletics Championships at Kalinga Stadium. State information and technology secretary Ashok Kumar Meena informed that all the departments are directed to appoint content managers who will be responsible for monitoring the contents posted and to respond to public queries raised. Apart from this, these departments will also have social media cell in all the government departments and districts for handling social media related activities.
