Odisha selected for education sector transformation by NITI Aayog
Under the NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog’s Sustainable Action for Transforming Human Capital (SATH) initiative, a partnership with Odisha and five other states was announced this week (on 8-8-2017) for drastic transformation of their Health and Education sectors. While Uttar Pradesh, Assam and Karnataka are selected for transformation of their health sector, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand are selected for transformation of their education sector. This selection was done from among all competing Indian states and Union Territories. Participants made presentations for each sector, which was assessed by a committee comprising senior members of NITI Aayog and Health and Human Resources Development (HRD) ministries. The selection of the six states was based on a detailed technical evaluation on comprehensive metrics to ascertain the potential for impact and probability of success in the health and education sectors.
