BBSR to have new community toilets
Under the initiatives like Swachh Bharat and turn Bhubaneswar as an open defecation free city, community toilets will soon be introduced here. With the financial support of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, 26 community toilets will be constructed out of which 17 toilets are already constructed and nine will be built soon. Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Ward Sanitation Committee have signed a pact for maintenance of the existing community toilet and fee collection. The committee constituting the president, secretary and treasurer will be accountable for the articles and items placed in the toilets owned by the BMC. The Ward sanitation committee has fixed the toilet fee to be Rs 3 onwards. The collected amount will be deposited in a bank account in the name of the committee and which will be managed by the treasurer and an additional member.
