KISS becomes world’s first tribal university
Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) is the first tribal university in the world as it gets the deemed university status by the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD). KISS provides free residential education exclusively for tribals. In the initial phase KISS will introduce seven new innovative departments focusing on research on tribal studies. Founder of KISS University Achyuta Samanta attributes the success to the good wishes of people and God’s blessings. He also acknowledged the contribution of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik towards tribal education improvement. It’s a commendable journey of KISS which was founded in 1992-93 in a rented building in Bhubaneswar with just 125 poor tribal students and which has now acquired the unique global status.
