Odisha to launch mobile app to prevent Malaria
The Odisha government aspires to leverage technology to prevent spread of the Malaria. The larger goal is to eliminate malaria from Odisha by 2025. Under this initiative, the health department is piloting a user friendly mobile application (APP) named HeMoClo (Health Mobile Cloud) to allow real-time surveillance and provides a mobile portable digital microscope for availing instant blood test results. Joint director of National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, Dr M M Pradhan said, “Technological intervention initiated by our partners like Tata Trust, a voluntary organisation, in curbing the malaria will be piloted in some districts and after its success it will be replicated across the state." 607 villages in five blocks of southern districts of the state including Rayagada, Kalahandi and Kandhamal have been chosen as the destination for the piloting of this app.
