BBSR launched first 255 PNG connections
On 18th October, 255 households in NALCO Nagar got Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections. This is a part of City Gas Distribution (CGD) project in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack under the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga, under which 50,000 households would get PNG connections by December 2019. Hotels, hospitals and industrial units will also be covered under this scheme. City Gas Distribution - is a pilot project with an estimated investment of Rs 1750 crore in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to provide PNG and CNG (compressed natural gas) fuels. The project is taken up along the Jagdishpur-Haldia and Bakaro-Dhamra (JHBDPL) natural gas pipeline project involving a expenditure of 1750 crore. The JHBDPL project entails a budget of Rs 4000 crore involving 769 km of pipelines covering 13 districts in Odisha. PNG is not only safe and eco-friendly but also economical as it can save up to 30- 40% of their current cooking fuel cost.
