BBSR to introduce mobile water treatment plant soon
The Public Health Engineering Organisation (PHEO) is considering the introduction of a mobile water treatment plant to check the quality of drinking water at any source in the city. An Ahmedabad-based firm has sent the proposal to the PHEO, which has been successfully operating such vehicles in parts of Gujarat. Mobile water treatment plant, mounted on a truck, has the potential to check and treat about 80,000 litres of brackish water and 20,000 litres of saline water in a day. After mixing various kinds of chemicals as per the World Health Organisation norms, it can turn water fit for consumption. The adoption of mobile treatment plant can be helpful during emergencies such as a hepatitis outbreak. According to a PHEO officer, "PHEO officials have been asked to give a presentation on the scenario of water treatment facilities in the city. The vehicles will most likely to be procured after reviewing the same."
