Odisha to conduct traffic survey using ATCC system
Ministry of road transport and highways is going to conduct a traffic survey, using Automatic Traffic Counter and Classifier (ATCC ) system to check pilferage and count exact number of vehicles passing through toll plazas on national highways in the state. Through this electronic system employing cameras and sensors the precise number of two-wheelers, four-wheelers and commercial or heavy vehicles passing through the section can be recorded. Odisha having 11 toll plazas, its government has received a letter from the ministry of road transport and highways directing it to cooperate in the surveying process. The survey would be conducted by a private company by using technologies like loop, height sensors, laser based technology, light curtain based classifiers and infra-red sensors to count number of vehicles and their classification (two-wheelers, buses, trucks or cars). Validation of the traffic survey results of ATCC shall be done using video- based system classifiers.
