Odisha to launch CCPWC project to deal with cyber crime
Odisha government is all set to implement a Centre-sponsored project, cyber crime prevention against women and children (CCPWC). The Centre has plans to apply this scheme in 28 states and has released Rs 2.3 crore to Odisha for the same. Under this, an online cyber crime reporting platform will be established with a view to help complainants report their grievances in a hassle-free manner. The main aim is to patrol social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The tech-savvy labs will allow authorities to gather intelligence about circulation of offensive/hate messages/video clips on these social networking sites. While CCPWC calls for creation of an advanced cyber forensic laboratory, the state government has already constructed the lab with state funds at Rasulgarh, ready to be launched on 22nd November. Therefore, the central funds towards the CCPWC can be used for laboratory improvement and better infrastructure. For proper execution of the project, an officer in the rank of additional director general (ADG) of police will be appointed as nodal officer.
