Sustainable urban transport in BBSR soon
Odisha Housing and Urban Development Department and Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) along with German funding agency German Corporation for International Cooperation or GIZ, are coming up with a city-wide, holistic master plan for non-motorised transport (NMT) aimed at low-carbon urban transport.GIZ experts will prepare the futuristic project’s operational plan and provide technological support for this project named, SMART-SUT (Smart Cities-Sustainable Urban Transport). The project is a part of the Indo-German bilateral technical cooperation initiative, “Sustainable Urban and Industrial Development’’. The project will be implemented in three Indian cities viz., Bhubaneswar, Coimbatore and Kochi.In Bhubaneswar, the BDA will serve as the implementing authority in collaboration with BMC and Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited. Cooperation from nearby urban local bodies such as of Cuttack and Puri may also be required.
