Odisha to have 10k solar-powered schools
With a view to become energy efficient, Odisha government has decided to make 10,000 state schools functional on solar energy. Schools having eco-clubs will be the one to implement the proposed project. The announcement was done by Energy Minister Prafulla Kumar Mallick while addressing a programme at Jayadev Bhawan on the occasion of National Energy Conservation Day on Thursday. He also spoke of several programmes being launched to generate awareness among people regarding energy preservation and methods of usage of green or alternate energy. The state targets to increase the number of electricity consumer in the state from current 66 lakh to 1 crore in next two years. The noteworthy part is under the smart energy initiative, the power consumption has declined by installing LED lights in various cities in the state. Operating all the government office buildings on solar power is also there on the agenda.
