Free diagnostic centres across the state-run hospitals
This is probably the best new year gift state is getting as Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced free diagnostic services in all state- run Hospitals and free dialysis for kidney patients in most of the headquarter hospitals. Under the name Nidaan these centers will provide seven types of basic tests free of cost and other facilities like high-end pathology tests, digital x-ray, CT scan and MRI will be included by March. With a budget of 600 crore for five years, the scheme is an additional endeavor of the government to the scheme Niramaya where free distribution of medicines in hospitals limited to 250 crores per annum is in practice. Other than the above services, weekly specialist clinic services such as obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatric, nutrition, general medicine, geriatric care, ophthalmology and psychiatry in urban primary health centres (UPHCs) has been promised by the chief minister.
