A safety house opens for abandoned cattle
To give protection to the abandoned cattle especially bulls roaming around the city, the BMC has opened a Cattle Welfare Centre at Jamukoli on the outskirts of the city for these stray animals. The frequent movement of stray cattle on city roads poses threats to commuters, bikers and motorists. At present, the centre has 32 sheds and can house around 100 animals. To make things easier, the civic body has initiated a process of ear tagging for better identification of their owners in collaboration with the fisheries and animal resources development department.
