Germany takes world’s first electric flying taxi jet to the skies
Lilium, a Munich based company, has successfully completed test flights of the world’s first electric flying taxi jet with a ground-breaking technical design. The test flight series was conducted in the Bavaria skies where the two-seater Eagle prototype executed a range of complex manoeuvres, like mid-air transition from hover mode to wing-borne forward flight. As per the company, the five-seater will be designed "for on-demand air taxi and ridesharing services." The project is being backed by high-profile investors like Skype co-founder Niklas Zennstrom. Lilium claims "A typical journey with the Lilium Jet will be at least 10 times faster than by car, with even greater efficiencies in busy cities. So a flight from Manhattan to New York’s JFK Airport will take around 5 minutes, compared to the 55 minutes it would take you by car."
