Pune accelerates its free WI-Fi project
As a part of Smart City Mission, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is all set to provide Wi-Fi service at over 100 of its gardens and schools of the city. Google along with IBM, Larsen & Toubro and RailTel has recently signed a Wi-Fi deal with the Pune Smart City Development Corporation (PSCSCL). Under this project, Wi-Fi hotspots will be available at around 200 strategic locations for which the required fibre optic will be laid. Deputy mayor Siddharth Dhende, said, "The new project will cover civic properties, including gardens, schools and administrative buildings. The paperwork is complete and installation of the Wi-FI kits will start soon"
