Renewable Energy Training Centre in twin cities under Skill India mission
To empower the renewable energy sector and create skilled resources for the same, a Centre of Excellence (CoE) has been built in Bangalore by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Schneider Electric India. Seven Advanced Renewable Energy Training Centres have also been put in place in the cities of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Bangalore, Delhi, Lucknow, Vishakhapatnam, and Jaipur. A CoE will be set up in the NCR region by the next year along with 100 Labs, across the country, at Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras (PMKK). The COE will provide training to the trainers, R&D and specialized corporate programmes. This is consequent upon the signing of a MoU between NSDC and Schneider Electric in 2016. Involving an investment of about 10 crores Schneider Electric India Foundation will be instrumental in bearing the infrastructure and equipment cost of the project while enhancing income generation capability of around 20,000 candidates per annum.
