Jordan to build new smart city near capital
Jordan has planned to build a new smart city near the capital, east of Amman, by spending billions of dollars. As per government officials, "Under the plan, a new, smart and sustainable city will be built, equipped with all infrastructure services and will adopt a long-term urban planning system with a vision that leaves the door open for further future development." The project will be fully financed and implemented jointly by the public and private sector using build-operate-transfer approach. The tendering process will start earlier next year. It will be developed in five phases targeted to be completed in 2030 at 39 square kilometres square land. The aim is to systematically handle urban expansion of Amman and Zarqa and other cities and provide larger option to citizens to maintain a better quality of life. The higher mission is employment generation and economic development.
