A ‘Doing Business in Odisha’ seminar was conducted by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Wednesday during which the following points were highlighted
i) Various significant initiatives have been taken by the State Government to strengthen the trade and industry credentials leading to emergence of the state as the strongest industrial hub in India in July 2016 ranking.
ii) Odisha is among the top three preferred destinations for investment in India and aims to emerge topper in terms of 'ease doing business'.
iii) Odisha has surfaced as the eastern gateway to FDI.
iv) Odisha’s GDP accelerated at 7+ growth rate due to accommodative fiscal policy via enhanced capital expenditure.
v) The state has 21 priority sectors and five focused sectors for investment and development namely agriculture and food processing, IT and tourism, electronic system, handicrafts, textiles and petroleum, chemicals and petrochemicals, renewable energy and pharmaceuticals.
