Koraput launches anti-plastic campaign

District collector, Koraput has started a range of initiatives to wipe out the usage of polythene bags being the major concern of the environmentalists. Plastic bags are popular with consumers and retailers as they are functional and cheap. So awareness campaign  advocating  the hazardous effects of polythene  will be carried away for a month through  loudspeakers, posters and pamphlets. Stakeholders are being requested by collector Jaya Kumar V to support the program promoting the usage of eco-friendly bags. After month-long drive polythene bag manufacturers, suppliers as well as the users will be subjected to heavy fine.
