Odisha to have GIS-based land bank
The state government plans to track, maintain and protect its idle land via Geographic Informations System (GIS)-based land bank. This will allow government to reclaim land in case of encroachments which leads to land under utilization. The project will be taken up by the Odisha Space Application Centre (Orsac), in association with the housing and urban development and general administration departments and the Bhubaneswar Development Authority. The GIS land bank will have comprehensive data regarding location, measurement and status of land which will be compiled in a single map. The data would then be integrated to bhulekh.ori.nic.in, the state government's official website as a result of which there will be easy access to land related information of the entire state.
