With the aim of utilizing the youthful creativity, enthusiasm and energy to build a socially smart city, the Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) in association with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is going to organize a series of programmes. ‘Youth connect’ as a component of the ‘Citizens Connect Programme’ of the city administration will start in the first week of March. Safe campus, safe city, better lifestyle and youth against discrimination and violence against women; are the major theme of the initiative. National Social Service volunteers will be appointed as the nodal officer for more than 50 educational institutions of Bhubaneswar. State Head of UNFPA Dr. Deepa Prasad said that the ‘Citizen Connect’ activity will be taken up in the City on March 8 on the occasion of the International Women’s Day. The programme will include not only the safety audit of the campus but also the formation of internal complaints committees for sexual harassment and violence against women in educational institutions.
