BMC gears up for massive city beautification drive ahead of the Asian Athletics Championship
Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has geared up for massive city beautification drive ahead of the Asian Athletics Championship scheduled to start from 6th July at Kalinga Stadium. Anyone either government or private agency or individual in found dumping one tractor load of construction and debris in the city will have to pay Rs. 6500 as fine. This will be supervised by the Zonal Deputy Commissioners (ZDCs). Apart from this five major city roads are going to be face-lifted. These roads are Janpath (Sishu Bhawan to Vani Vihar), Sachivalaya Marg to Kalinga Hospital Square, Governor's House to KIIT Square, Kalpana Square to Gopabandhu Square via Governor's House Square and Cuttack Road (Museum Square to Samantarapur Square). The beautification drive will include colouring and repairing of streetlights, wall painting and beautification of road underpass near city flyovers, plantation drive, smart traffic signalling systems, removal of unwanted road side signage and mechanical sweeping and beautification of bus stops along the five roads and much more.
