Odisha IT sector renders praiseworthy performance
Odisha has performed quite well in the IT sector. This was announced by Information and Technology (IT) Minister Chandrasarathi Behera at a news conference. He shared that Odisha's IT exports rocketed from Rs 91 crore in 2000 to Rs 3,400 crore in 2016-17.On the other hand the number of IT exporting firms in Odisha has reached to 115 in 2017 from just 35 in 2000 creating 17000 IT jobs. Currently, there are four Software Technology Parks of India at Bhubaneswar, Berhampur, Rourkela and Balasore, four more are proposed at Angul, Jajpur, Sambalpur and Jeypore to be set up by March 2019.Regarding e-governance, Behera claimed that projects like integrated financial management system, integrated mines and mineral management system, student academic management system, Odisha secretariat workflow automation system and e-procurement have not only been recognized but also adopted by other states. Bhubaneswar is soon going to have a centre of the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology to encourage IT education in the state.
