IIT Bhubaneswar to set up a Research and Entrepreneurship Park
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bhubaneswar is going to set up a Research and Entrepreneurship Park, a not for profit company to promote entrepreneurial initiatives. The institute has acquired the licence and incorporation certificate from Registrar of Companies (RoC) which will help IIT Bhubaneswar to receive grants under Government schemes to encourage entrepreneurship, research and startup activities. While 70 acres in the permanent campus of the IIT at Arugul, has been allocated for the purpose, initially it will operate from the same campus located at the heart of the city. The new project will start will start functioning under chairmanship of Prof RV Raja Kumar along with Prof RK Panda and PIC Startup Centre Dr Ankush Sharma as two other directors of the company. IIT Director Raja Kumar said, “There are numerous colleges and universities offering various courses to their students. A rich pool of talent is available in and around IIT Bhubaneswar which needs to be guided for innovation, research and entrepreneurship activities. To shape their innovation and promote their entrepreneurship interests, IIT-Bhubaneswar Research and Entrepreneurship Park will act as a nodal centre.”
