AIIMS to build temporary shelter house for patients’ attendants
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhubaneswar has decided to build a shelter house for patients’ attendants in the campus. This is to provide them accommodation for their short stay while their relatives are undergoing treatment. Currently, the attendants spend their nights near the OPD front office and emergency ward of the hospital as most of them are poor, visiting from different parts of the state for better health services. AIIMS Bhubaneswar Director, Gitanjali Batmanabane said, "Keeping this precarious condition of the attendants in mind, the institute decided to construct a building for them. We have called for tender for this project." The institute will build a temporary shelter house involving a budget of Rs 12 lakh, later a public sector undertaking will take up the construction full-fledged shelter house. "Discussion with the PSU is going on. It will take time to construct the shelter, so we decided to on our own to help the attendants. Later the PSU will increase its capacity," Gitanjali added.
