Singapore is the smartest city globally
Juniper Research released a global smart cities ranking which found Singapore bagging the crown. The four runners-up are Barcelona, London, San Francisco and Oslo. While it is observed that Singapore has implemented smart mobility policies and technology, yet the city's fixed and cellular broadband services, city apps and strong open data policy are the factors which earned it the enviable title 2016.The study highlighted the deployment of smart grid technologies as global choice under smart city project, though Europe has been found to be lagging in this aspect. According to the report the smart grid technology deployment will result in $18.8 billion of cost savings in 2021 due to decline in energy consumption and reduced economic costs from emissions.
The Smart Grid is the evolution of current electrical grid, using new technology to optimize the conservation and delivery of power.
