Bengaluru all set to make it in the 3rd round of SCM competition
As Bengaluru, the IT capital remains unselected in the smart city mission (SCM) winner’s list, it has geared itself up to offer a solid proposal good enough to bag the project in the third and final round of SCM scheduled in March. BBMP commissioner Manjunath Prasad said, “We are determined to ensure the city bags a Smart City spot as it will go a long way in creating public infrastructure." In June, the garden city had lost the second round of the competition among 83 cities by just 0.5 marks. Bengaluru will be the only city from Karnataka to participate in the third round, in which its selection would mean Rs 1,000-crore fund for the city over five years. Reviving Bengaluru’s glory through mobility infrastructure solutions and quality urban services and a solid waste management plan are going to be its focus as an inspiring smart city.
