Smart City Updates
Hobart City to deploy Australia’s first fully integrated smart city parking solution
Hobart City Council is adopting Smart City solutions since last 1 year. Under its smart initiative, it is now going ahead with the deployment of vehicle detection sensor solution in Tasmania’s capital city. The project will be taken up by Smart Parking in collaboration with Australian Parking and Revenue Control (APARC). This is Australia’s first fully integrated smart city parking solution which will include Parkeon 7” colour screen parking meters, integrated enforcement, sensors, a mobile phone parking app, and real-time credit card processing. In order to collect and transmit real-time data to Hobart City Council, 2100 in-ground vehicle detection sensors will be used. The mobile application will thus provide users with live data on available parking spaces. Parkeon colour screen meters will have splash-screen to enable the Council to remain updated about downtown Hobart activities, advertise, and share information with the public like law enforcement messages, missing person notices etc. The new smart city solution aims to address the traffic congestion issue, help citizens to find and pay for parking smartly and conveniently and make the city more accessible for tourists.
